I am a lecturer in Italian Studies with over three years experience in international universities. My teaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of a variety of pedagogical approaches, which help to create a well-organized and enjoyable learning ambience. Instead of the traditional frontal teaching method of old style lectures, I favour a student-centred teaching approach, which encourages student interaction and active participation of students in the classroom. I encourage students to make suggestions and think about the class as a community. A crucial facet of my teaching philosophy is to approach Italian language learning with the combination of reading, writing, and speaking exercises within each lecture. In keeping with this emphasis on dialogue, students are highly encouraged to exercise their knowledge in real-life situations. Finally, another important aspect of my teaching philosophy is the inclusion of technology and media-based lessons in the classroom. Given that the use of technology is an important part of today’s language-learning, I also employ film and newspapers to provide challenging, culturally-based exercises during my lessons. In basing my lessons on dialogue and student interaction, I have been pleased by enthusiastic student feedback. Specialties: Teaching, languages, translation, interpreting, carrying out research work.
